The Hamelin-based company, which specialises in drive and automation technology, will be demonstrating various products at its stand （Stand 9425） in Hall 9, including its new 9400 Servo Drives series of servo controllers, which are now available with power ratings of up to 370 kW. These devices, which form part of the L-force drive and automation system, integrate seamlessly with Lenze’s PC-based control systems to create the ideal mechatronic solution. Lenze will also be focusing on how it integrates safety technology into the drive controller. This drive-based safety has many advantages, especially as far as handling technology is concerned. An immediate response is vital when it is a question of bringing fast-moving machinery to a standstill in the shortest possible time. Literally every split second counts between the time a signal is sent and the moment at which the associated safety function switches in, as the shorter this time, the smaller the distance that the machine modules can continue to travel. That is why it makes sense to intervene in the process at the point where the hazardous motion is actually initiated and controlled – directly in the drive controller itself. Examples of the kinds of demanding safety functions implemented include “safely limited speed”, “safe torque off”, “safe stop 1/2" and “safe cascading”.
